North Island End of Year Brief!
Posted December 22, 2023
2023 started well with a few people moving between projects and a position change for Jay Wood into a trainer advisor role.
Two brand new LM drills where mobilised to the West Coast of the South Island Rigs 8153 & 8171 for Federation mining.
The Ohakuri project came to an end and rig 71 was Demobilised back to Waihi in March
Rig 91 was flown to the base of the Arapuni dam in April to start the over reaming project for Mercury Energy.
We established a core shed for Mineralogy in June to log the core drilled with Rig 71 once mobilised to Atiamuri valley.
Rig 82 became the long anticipated third rig mid-July and was flown out into WKP, picking production up substantially.
OGL rolled out our safe behaviours with the workforce in August. Drill force hosted this year’s Drilling conference in Auckland which a small group from Alton drilling attended.
The arrival of the new MDR700’s in October was fantastic to receive, the first one Rig 9020 mobilised Underground the following month. The second MDR made an appearance in this year’s Christmas parade down the main St of Waihi.
This year has been interesting with a few changes being made internally, there have been opportunities for those willing to put their hand up to learn and develop new skills. Within our workgroups we have improved our existing processes, developed new leaders, and introduced new people into the industry. Our safety culture continues to grow and is a credit to every one of the team taking responsibility for their safety.
2023 has been another successful year and wouldn’t be possible without the collective efforts of you all.
Enjoy the Christmas break and the make the most of this time with family and friends to reflect on another year well done.
Merry Christmas !
