About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to take a key leadership role across our South Island operations.

Reporting to our Workshop & Logistics Manager, you’ll lead and support our South Island maintenance teams, overseeing preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure our drilling fleet, vehicles and associated equipment remain safe, reliable and ready to perform.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who brings strong technical capability alongside proven leadership skills — someone who can plan ahead, manage priorities, solve problems and get stuck in alongside the team when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support maintenance teams across our South Island operations.
• Plan, coordinate and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Manage maintenance priorities to minimise downtime and support operational requirements.
• Ensure drilling equipment, vehicles and associated machinery are maintained to a high standard.
• Provide technical guidance and support with diagnostics, fault finding and repairs.
• Ensure maintenance records, servicing and inspections are completed accurately.
• Work closely with operational teams and supervisors to plan maintenance requirements.
• Support maintenance budgeting, purchasing and cost control.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with Alton Drilling’s Health & Safety requirements.
• Travel between South Island operations as required.

What We’re Looking For

• Relevant trade qualification or strong practical maintenance experience.
• Proven maintenance supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Strong technical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Mining, drilling or heavy industry experience is highly regarded.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good planning, organisation and communication skills.
• Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Budgeting and cost-control experience would be advantageous.

• New Zealand Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold the legal right to work in New Zealand.
